Although in the end I found that the PinUp style I had in mind doesn’t really suit my natural shooting style, I had so much fun with my PinUp girls! And it was such a great learning experience for me. I’m still discovering so much about working in a studio space but I have to say, I am loving it. There are certainly pros & cons to both on-location and studio but after several wildly windy beach shoots, working in an element free space is really nice!
The ladies that came and modeled for me were all so beautiful and so much fun, each quite different and I had a great time getting to know and work with them. <3
To kick off the gravitational shift towards specializing in women’s portraiture I am offering an awesome, limited time special for a Beauty, PinUp, Glamour, or Boudoir photoshoot, so everyone can come revel in the Sputtering Cosmos experience – so make sure to book your photoshoot now! Go schedule HERE!

I really thought that PinUp would be where I wanted to focus my photography, it’s something I love so much personally and I had so much fun with the girls who modeled for me. But as fun as it was I found that it didn’t suit my natural shooting style, which has a definite softness to it. I love shallow depth of field. Soft, beautiful light. A little quiet, a smidge moody. Warm, romantic. I think this is why I have gravitated to working with couples and women. I love all the couples that I have photographed over the last few months, they have all been such awesome people and such a pleasure to work with. I am blessed with so much love in my life that it brings me so much joy to capture other people’s love for each other.
But my PinUp girls, and all the other women I’ve gotten to work with recently, have really helped me along my way to figuring out what I really want to shoot and I am finding that my heart’s truest passion is with women’s photography. I love working with women and that is what I want to focus on. We are the ones that want to be photographed! We want to be captured as beautifully on camera as we are in real life. And we are ALL beautiful. Every single one of us. Maybe we don’t always feel it when life takes over and we’re so busy we barely have time to eat & sleep, let alone do anything for ourselves. But it is still truth. Every woman has as incredible beauty bursting out of heart, even if she doesn’t have time every day to appreciate it.
So this is the service I want to provide with my photography – time out to revel in our femininity. Have our hair & makeup done, put on our favorite beautiful clothes, and be photographed looking our absolute most gorgeous. Then on those hectic days where it’s all we can do to keep the kids fed and happy and the household running; where hair in a messy top knot and yoga pants are the uniform du jour…we can look back at those images and be reminded that we are women. And we are BEAUTIFUL.
So many changes! The last few months of starting up my business have definitely felt like a constant state of flux, figuring out what works for me and for YOU! My studio space is getting a facelift, website has a new, streamlined look, and next project is getting this blog running and consistently updated. Some new things I will be bringing in will be featured photoshoots, tutorials, before & afters, featuring local small business vendors, etc…
And I would love to hear from you, what do you want to see? What do you want to read about? Let me know!
